Sam is a Brisbane-based artist who has always created and practiced in private. Her affinity for drawing began at a very young age, but even as a child, she understood the challenges often associated with creative careers. Steering away from a path as a 'struggling artist,' she never took her hobby too seriously and opted for a slightly more stable path. But as she slowly approaches 30 with a sound career, she just wonders... why not now?
Pens, pencils, and paper were among the more accessible mediums during her childhood, and they were what she drew with the most as a young girl. Today, although happy to explore others, pens still remain the medium that she gravitates towards. Her works may not be revolutionary, nor do they compare to those pioneering social change, but Sam hopes that in this world of efficiency and quick access, they showcase how a little devotion, patience, and hard work on the classic tools can create wonderful things full of depth and wonder.
Every pen line and stipple that meets and marks the paper has been considered and composed to create the intended movement, depth, and texture. She revels in the control and intricacy achievable with this medium. With every viewing of her works, Sam hopes you might perceive or uncover another quirky squiggle or detail that previously escaped your notice.
